Fawn Lily is owned and operated by Lindsay Goldberg, a first generation farmer who grew up in the San Fernando Valley of California. Her parents ran an interior plantscaping business so she spent her childhood playing in greenhouses and nurseries. She has long felt that farming was her life’s calling. After attending school and working in a nursery in Santa Cruz, she left intern on veggie farms. An opportunity to start her own farm business presented itself in 2015 and the rest is history.
The farm is located in beautiful Troutdale, Oregon. There is currently a half acre in the field in production, into addition to two greenhouses in Oregon City (with Eda Creek Farm) for ranunculus, lisianthus, and other early and late season cuts. Though not certified organic, she uses environmentally friendly methods of pest and weed management.
Fawn Lily Farm has been a proud member of the Oregon Flower Growers Association since 2017. Lindsay appreciates the farming community that comes together on the back dock to admire each others blooms and talk shop. She also enjoys seeing magic happen as flowers are turned into works of art by the floral designers who frequent the market. Her favorite crops to grow are anything tedious to cut like Scabiosa, bachelor button, agrostemma, and phlox.
There are endless reasons why Lindsay loves farming, but here is one: there is something really special about getting to the field early and watching the world come alive around me. The day is still cool and bees are sleeping, pollen drunk in the flowers. Sometimes she leaves those, even if the bloom is perfect.
